Chinese Antique Chairs (Antique Chinese Chair in Black Lacquer). A rare pair of antique Chinese black lacquer chairs from Shanxi Province in northern China. The back panels feature age-worn, hand-painted images of flowers-with hues of yellow and red still visible.
The chairs are crafted in the classical Chinese style of simple lines, rounded pieces of wood, and accented with carvings. The back rest and the arm rests are slightly bowed to better fit the contours of the human body. The front apron is beautifully carved as well as the side aprons. The back apron is simple. The front features a foot rest. A stretcher is between the back and sides legs.
The height to the seat 18.75 inches (47.5cm); while the height to the top railing is 43 inches (109cm).
